Carved into the rock, this Byzantine cave monastery is a treasure trove of history and stunning frescoes. The ancient church and courtyard are truly breathtaking, and the stories behind the intricate paintings are so fascinating — its beautiful frescoes are believed to be the work of three different masters, and the main apse has three bands of paintings, including Christ Enthroned, the symbols of the gospel writers, and the Cappadocian Fathers.
