Archaeologists in Peru 🇵🇪 have uncovered a 3,500-year-old city that once served as a link between the coastal region and the Andes. The ancient urban center, named Peñico, is located in the northern province of Barranca and dates back to between 1800 and 1500 BC. It lies near the site where the Caral civilization—the oldest known in the Americas—flourished around 5,000 years ago.
